Rules of Sevens

Rugby sevens is played with seven players on each side; three forwards and four backs.

The game is played on a full size pitch and, as there are so few players, the game is very expansive and fast. Players are generally very rapid, mobile and fit. A sevens match lasts seven minutes each way (10 minites each way for the final), so the pace throughout is extremely quick. Games are played back to back during the tournament.

The rules of sevens are the same as for 15-a-side rugby, with a few exceptions. The team that scores is required to kick off, conversions are made by drop kicks ratrher than place kicks and the scrum consists of three players.
